The participants in the "Children’s Literature for Parenting" book groups write poetry in response to the books that they read. Often their poems are written for or about their children. The following poems were written in response to “Come On, Rain!” by Karen Hesse and were inspired by the poem “April Rain Song” by Langston Hughes.
Let the rain kiss
the world,
and still make it go
around and around.
Let the rain kiss
me and my kids,
to still make us
safe and sound.
Let the rain kiss
everyone to do right
not wrong.

so it can wash away her stress.

so the dirt can wash off her pretty dress.

so afterwards he can play in the rainbow
and have some fun.

so they can live their lives happily.

so I can run free.
